Well we had a great time looking at all the wild animals and then it was time to climb the mountain. Alex and I had been hiking 5 nights a week for 3
months preparing for this but nothing can get you ready for the mountain. I thought we were in good shape but obviously we were not. Everything went well
until we got above 15,000'. The air gets so thin you can't breath, you have a headache most of the time and if you are lucky you don't get sick.
I have done a lot of physical things in my life but nothing compares to this. We spent 8 1/2 days going from 7,400' to 19,340' and 1 1/2 days coming
back down to 6,000'. My legs are so sore I can hardly walk but it was a wonderful trip. And to have to opportunity to spend the last 18 days with my son
Alex is precious beyond words. We will always have these days to cherrish and hundreds of pictures to help us remember.
Waking up in the morning on the mountain with snow on the inside of the tent from our breath overnight is something to enjoy. While you guys have had 100 deg.
weather we have had single digit mornings for the last 5 days.
We started out with 28 people and all of them made it to the summit. The view was absolutely incredible.
For any of you that will be attending my annual cookout on May 5th I will have plenty of stories to tell and pictures to show.
For my wife, I love you Babe and I am coming home.
Home sick
Steven
