Posts: 856 06/22/09 06:16:14	Tags : None The results for the Barren Qualifying event are now ready and will be sent to the webmaster today for posting. The point that some don't seem to understand is. The tournament results are in the Tournament Keeper program. Before they can be posted to website.... several steps must be taken. Contact Jim Blair (270-383-5915) (270-339-6321) Jim sat with me for a long time on Sunday while the Reg 1 event was going on and seen all that is involved in getting the results to the webmaster. Call him for details and don't take my word for it. 1 All results must be exported from the TKW program to Excel. 2. then changes have to be made manually for guys that compete as Angler or Co Angler. (we have 4 anglers that entered 2 events as a co angler...then they enter another as a angler.... these are calculated via whatever they entered the first event of the year as. these have to be changed manually. this list is posted on my office wall. directors dont have access to my office when i am out of town. 3. The Tournament Keeper Program is licenseed for 3 computers. Jerry Smith has the KBF laptop as 1, the other 2 are my desktop and laptop. Therefore, Directors do not have the program on their personal computers. If someone would like to purchase the additional licensee's we can provide all with the program> Now on to more important info.... STATE TOURNAMENT INFO KBF announced at the beginning of the year that in the State Tournament we would have the following: 10 anglers / 10 Co Anglers for each Regional Tournament. Reg 1 Ky/Barkley Lakes had 8 Anglers and 6 Co Anglers Reg 2 Laurel Lake had 10 Anglers and 6 Co Anglers Reg 3 Barren Lake had 10 Anglers and 10 Co Anglers Reg 4 Rough River had 10 Anglers and 10 Co Anglers for a total of 38 Anglers and 32 Co Anglers therefore, the top 2 Anglers on the Wildcard list now make 40 Anglers and the top 8 Co Anglers on the Wildcard list now make 40 Co Anglers. As advertised the top 10 Anglers and Co Anglers from the Wildcard list would also go to the State Tournament. Wildcard Anglers #3 thru /12 have earned a berth at the State Tournament. READ CAREFULLY Co Anglers #1 thru #8 on the Wildcard list will move to the State Tournament to complete the field of 40 Co Anglers from the Regionals. Co Anglers #9 thru 14 will move to the state tournament to fill 6 spots of the advertised 10 Co Anglers. (could not go down farther as this is the end of Wildcard list) We now have 51 Anglers in the field and 46 Co Anglers. The bottom 5 Anglers on the Wildcard list have 2 options....... supply a "Fishing Observer" or "Random Pairing w/other boater and share the front of boat and waters for the day" These 5 anglers can call me, email me with their choice. This decision will be made from calculation of their votes on Monday July 6, 2009 This will be the FINAL field for the tournament. Each Contestant will receive a letter in the next couple weeks, with a DEADLINE date for returning form. 1.Contestant'S returning their form indicating they will not be attending will be deleted from the event and NO ONE WILL BE NOTIFIED TO TAKE THEIR PLACE. 2.Entry forms not ON MY DESK by Deadline date will also be deleted. POSTMARKED entry forms WILL NOT be accepted after the DEADLINE DATE. We are working this morning on the Ky/Barkley results and hopefully they will be ready to send to the webmaster by mid week. If those five boaters choose to be randomly paired with another boater then 10 guys will be at a disadvantage (although some might call that an advantage). On the other hand if they choose to bring observers then five boaters will have nobody fishing out of their boats which gives them a distinct advantage. That is a tough one. Unfortunately the only real fair way is to have boater/non-boater pairings only. Good luck with this one Donnie. Because the observer deal is the lesser of the two evils, I will offer to bring an observer if needed. By the way, thanks for all the KBF and its officers do each year to make these tournaments happen, especially the state tournament. It's always an honor to get to fish one and I feel sorry for all the guys who, for one reason or another, don't participate in Federation events anymore. It's a great tradition with the promise of grand things to come. Just look at Hosko (go FishHedz). When he goes to nationals he will be competing for a spot in the All-American and a fully-paid ride on the FLW TOUR (including furnished truck and boat), where he will fish for hundreds of thousands basically once per month. Anyway, thanks again to you and Steven and Donnie and Gerald and every other person who continues the tradition of the KBF. It does not go totally unappreciated guys. Sincerely, Brian Hickey

Posts: 857 06/23/09 02:03:04	Brian, notice we said Fishing Observer........ the observer that one brings must be a person that will fish and try his/her best. At present, there are only 5 persons listed that need to bring an Observer. This is shaping up to be 3 tournaments in one. Angler vs Angler....Co Angler vs Co Angler....Observer vs Observer... (the observers will be competing for a nice 1st place prize. (also working on a 1 day fishing trip on Ky/Barkley Lake w/local guide "The Stroker") as additional prize in the observer package. Posts: 2 06/23/09 09:06:35	Great idea Donnie. And you can count me in for the trip as one of the prizes. As a matter of fact, Hosko told me the Southern Divisional next year will be on Eufaula in June. So with that in mind I will make the KBF an offer: everyone who makes the state team, whether or not I make it, is invited to come down to Barkley and Kentucky Lakes between the end of May and the S. Divisional to practice ledge fishing with me including how to find productive ledges using maps, finding the sweet spot from the water, and how to fish them. I don't know all there is to know about ledge fishing and I'm learning more every year. But I'll pass on what I've learned if anyone who makes the state team will take me up on it. For those that don't know, Eufaula fishes a lot like Barkley and Kentucky, especially the ledge fishing aspect.

Posts: 3 06/29/09 17:38:46	You know you are welcome anytime Steven. I've been saying that to you and Mr. Lowther and Mark Speagle and....... for years. You guys never take me up on it. The bite was tough when you guys came down here last week for some reason. It was ridiculous this weekend. My 2 year old son caught (helped me reel in) several fish over 4 pounds Saturday. Nine on nine straight casts at one point. He is spoiled already because later we caught one just shy of three pounds and he said, "look Momma, Kaden catch baby bish. No more baby bish Daddy, only big bish". Surely if he can do it you guys from Louisville can. Well.....maybe. Come on down one weekend. The key is learning how to find structure that lays just right but isn't a community hole. There is still 10 weeks left of good ledge fishing.
