The tournament results report has been posted on the KDFWR website for sometime now. All-in-all, 2008 was a great year for tournament anglers and this
success is expecting to continue through 2009. By now, many of you are probably able to comment on that too. As with most reports, it is quite dry reading, but
if you go to the summary on page 5, you'll be able to find a pretty good discussion of the results. Here's the link to the report. http://fw.ky.gov/pdf/basstour2008.pdf
Chris Hickey puts this report together. His contact info is in the report if you have any questions or comments.
All tournament directors are encouraged to schedule tournaments on the website and furnish their tournament results to KDFWR, even your awful tournaments. If
you schedule the tournament through the website, you will also be able to submit the results by internet. You can also fill out report cards, or just let me
know and I'll do what ever I can to get the info to them.
Be sure to complete all of the required info for each report as incomplete reports will not add to the data base. Besides who, where and when, the number of
anglers, number and weight of fish caught, length of tournament, weight of first place are the minimum information. Other info in the form will certainly help
them fine tune the overall black bass program throughout the state.
Along with the electrofishing information to get the younger year class information, this tournament data helps to measure the supplemental stocking program
that is underway throughout the state. Improvements are occurring and I think that the KDFWR Fisheries Division will continue to expand the stocking program as
these successes prove that the program works to improve and stabilize overall success in tournament angling.
